The Milken Family Foundation selected Michael Zaba ’02, an art teacher at Louis Toffolon Elementary School in Plainville, as a recipient of a 2018-19 Milken Educator Award. The award recognizes outstanding K–12 teachers, principals, and specialists selected through a confidential screening process and reviewed by blue ribbon panels appointed by state departments of education.

Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley, Governor Ned Lamont, and Connecticut Department of Education Commissioner Dr. Dianna R. Wentzell presented Zaba with the award during an assembly at Toffolon on Jan. 23.

In addition to a $25,000 prize, the honor includes membership in the National Milken Educator Network. Zaba is the only Milken Educator Award winner from Connecticut this year and is among the 33 honorees for 2018-19. Read more here.
